Shorebirds Hire New Marketing Team

(SALISBURY, MD --- February 2, 2004) Comcast-Spectacor, owners and operators of the Class A Delmarva Shorebirds (South Atlantic League) baseball team, welcome Sharine Iacono as director of marketing, Chris Schenk as public relations manager and Norb Sadilek as director of community relations and customer service.

Iacono joins the Shorebirds' staff as director of marketing after 10 months as assistant director of marketing for the Frederick Keys following seven months as marketing intern for the Philadelphia Phantoms, both are subsidiaries of Comcast-Spectacor. Originally of Lafayette Hill, PA, the graduate of Immaculata College now resides in Salisbury.

In her new role, Iacono will develop and implement the overall marketing strategy for baseball and non-baseball events to maximize ticket sales. She'll use media buying, promotions, youth programming and public relations.

Schenk enters the Shorebirds' staff as public relations manager. He is the national vice president of professional development for the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA). Over the past three years, Schenk has interned in the public relations' departments of the 76ers, Phantoms of the AHL, Charge formerly of the WUSA and KiXX of the MISL, all Philadelphia-based franchises. He has experience in handling all types of major events and sporting attractions.

With the Shorebirds, Schenk will create and maintain a positive relationship between the Shorebirds and Delmarva media outlets and oversee player appearances throughout the community. Schenk formerly of Cherry Hill, NJ, graduated from Rowan University and now makes his home in Salisbury.

Sadilek takes over the position of director of community relations and customer service after three years as group event manager for the Shorebirds. Prior to that, the University of Baltimore graduate spent three years in the Shorebirds' customer service department.

In his new position, Sadilek will promote the Shorebirds involvement in the community, including the Shorebrids' reading program, and insure that every fan that attends a Shorebirds' game leaves with a positive experience. Sadilek, originally from Baltimore, now lives in Lewes, Delaware.

"Norb, Sharine and Chris bring a new spirit of creativeness, professionalism and marketing expertise to the front office," said Shorebirds General Manager Steve Yaros. "They will work toward greatly enhancing the game day experience for fans, improving our commitment to customer service and increase our daily interaction with the community and our fans."
