STAT OF THE DAY: Seven Shorebirds home runs have accounted for 13 of the 24 runs scored in this series (54 percent). In their first 38 games, the home run ball accounted for just 11 percent of their runs (21 of 184 runs scored).
PREVIEW: The Shorebirds hand the ball to Orioles top prospect Dylan Bundy in hopes of leaving town with a series split after a 9-1 victory in game three last night. Nicky Delmonico and Justin Dalles hit back-to-back home runs in the seventh to put the game out of reach. Miguel Chalas and Jake Cowan held the top scoring team in the SAL to one run on five hits. With 30 games left in the first half, the Shorebirds are 11.0 games out of first place.
SEVEN HOMERS IN SERIES: The Shorebirds have seven home runs in the series against Hagerstown. In their first 38 games of the year, they only hit 13 total home runs. Prior to this series, the most home runs the Shorebirds hit in one series this year was three (at Greensboro, April 19-21).

BACK-TO-BACK: The last time the Shorebirds hit back-to-back home runs was on June 5, 2011 against West Virginia. when Mike Flacco and Kieron Pope hit back-to-back dingers.
HIGHEST SCORING SERIES: The Shorebirds have scored 24 runs in this series. If they score five runs today, it will be their highest scoring series of the year. They scored 28 runs in a four-game series against Greensboro (April 12-15).
GIVENS BOOSTS AVG: After a 3-for-4 game yesterday, Mychal Givens' batting average jumped 21 points from .183 to .204. He also picked up his first RBI since May 5.
LEFTY BATS STRUGGLE: Jake Cowan picked up his fourth save of the year last night in three innings. Left-handed bats are batting .077 (2-for-26) against Cowan this year. In his last 14.2 innings, he has allowed just eight hits.
CHALAS VS. SUNS: Miguel Chalas' two best starts this season have been against Hagerstown. In two starts against the Suns (including last night), he has yielded just six hits and one earned run in 11 innings pitched. He also has nine strikeouts and just three walks. Chalas now leads the staff with four wins.
