EVERETT, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs needed only a pair of goals in the first two rounds to sneak past the Everett Silvertips, 4-3 in a shootout, ending the Silvertips nine-game winning streak before 2,901 fans at Spokane Arena on Wednesday in WHL action.

The Tips, by forcing overtime, actually extended a streak of going unbeaten in regulation to 10-0-2 and scored three times on the power play. Connor Dewar, Max Patterson, and Bryce Kindopp scored goals for the Silvertips, while Wolf helped force the shootout with 32 saves.

UP NEXT: The Silvertips take on the Vancouver Giants on Friday, Dec. 14 at 7:35 p.m.,in a battle between both first place teams in the Western Conference. Connor Dewar blasted his 24th goal of the season, picking a drop pass by Riley Sutter, from the right circle for a power play goal at 3:50 for a 1-0 lead. The Tips fell into penalty trouble late in the period, and Luc Smith's snap shot from between the circles tied the game with 10.6 left in the period.

Max Patterson batted in a rebound after Bailey Brkin fumbled Sahvan Khaira's point shot at 5:23 of the second period, and Luke Toporowski and Adam Beckman scored 56 seconds apart to put the Chiefs up, 3-2 by the 9:24 mark. Toporowski stashed a forehand bid through traffic and Beckman deflected Tyson Feist's point shot past Wolf.

The Tips battled back to tie the game at 3-3 on Bryce Kindopp's 14th goal of the season through traffic at 14:02. Both teams played through a scoreless third period, with Reece Vitelli nearly tucking in a loose puck that laid flat on the goal line and was covered up by Brkin at the last moment before Vitelli fought off a checker.

In overtime, the Tips got two high-grade chances by Wylie, cruising to the net from the left circle while Wolf made a highlight reel, blocker save on Luc Smith to keep the game alive.

Nolan Reid and Jake McGrew scored each in the first two rounds on snap shots, and Brkin denied Connor Dewar's forehand deke to close the game.
