
Shooter Returns to B-Sens

BINGHAMTON, NY â The Binghamton Senators announced today that RW Brad Smyth has been returned to the team while goaltender Mathieu Chouinard has been reassigned to the Peoria Riverman (ECHL).
Smyth appeared in six games for Ottawa, recording two points (1-1), four penalty minutes and a -1 rating. He had a goal and four shots on goal vs. Detroit (Nov 2) and was named the game's second star. In five games with Binghamton at the start of the 2002-03 season, he recorded six points (4-2) to lead the team at the time of his October 30 call-up. Smyth will be in Binghamton in time for the Senators next game, Friday night, when they host Syracuse.
Chouinard recently appeared in one game for Team Canada at the Deutschland Cup, allowing one goal on 25 shots and picking up a win. The 22-year-old netminder appeared in 25 games for the Senators AHL affiliate in Grand Rapids last season, recording an 11-12-1 record with two shutouts and a 2.48 GAA. He had not seen any action in Binghamton's first 12 games.
The Senators open a three game in three night stretch Friday at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena when they host the Syracuse Crunch (7:05). Friday is Jack Sherman Toyota Replica Stick Night, with the first 1,000 kids through the doors receiving a full size replica hockey stick. Binghamton makes its final regular season visit to Rochester for a Saturday night clash with the Amerks (7:35) before returning home on Sunday to battle the Albany River Rats in a special 6:05 p.m. faceoff.
