Shock Continue to Build Roster

Spokane, WA: The Spokane Shock announced today that LB Beau Bell and WR Lonnell DeWalt have been added to the 2011 roster.
Bell, 6-1 244, played collegiately at UNLV where he was named the Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2007. As a Running Rebel, Bell racked up 320 tackles, with 10.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, four interceptions and five pass break-ups.
The following season, Bell was selected in the fourth round by the Cleveland Browns (the team's first pick in that year's draft). Bell started five games and recorded three tackles and one forced fumble before he was released due to injury. This will be Bell's first season in Arena Football.
"Beau Bell is high-energy, ferocious hitter that we are anxious to introduce to the Arena Football game," Head Coach Rob Keefe explained. "He is the type of player that any coach would be excited to unleash on opposing quarterbacks."
DeWalt, 6-6 225, is a veteran of the Arena game having played for the af2's Louisville Fire (2007-2008), and the Kentucky Horseman (2009). In 2009, DeWalt led the Horseman in receptions (110) and touchdown receptions (34).
"You can't teach size. With a 6-6 frame and an agile body he will have a distinct advantage over smaller DB's," Keefe said. "We can throw the ball up in the air and watch him go get it. That is a critical advantage when you get into the red zone. "
The ArenaBowl Champion Spokane Shock will begin the 2011 season on the road on March 11 against the San Jose SaberCats.
