SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah Blaze are pleased to announce the addition of former NFL Offensive Lineman Salomon Solano (6-3, 320, Universidad Autonoma De Tamaulipas). Solano brings an array of international playing and coaching experience to his first year in the Arena Football League.

After playing collegiately at Tamaulipas in Mexico, Solano played for the Detroit Lions, Baltimore Ravens of the NFL and Rhein Fire, formerly of NFL Europe. He was a member of the International Practice Squad Program, whose primary goal was to enhance the development of elite football talent from around the world. Prior to going the NFL, he joined the Mexican National Football Team in 2003 at the age of 19, where he was able to refine his professional experience abroad.

"We are very happy to have Solomon added to our roster," said Blaze Head Coach Ron James. "He has a wealth of experience on the NFL level and we believe this upcoming star will anchor the defensive line in 2011."

Currently, Solano serves as the Defensive Line Coach for the World Team of the International Federation of American Football, bringing a valuable understanding of the game to the Blaze locker room. He also serves as the Defensive Coordinator for Team Mexico, who took fourth place at the 2009 IFAF Junior World Championship in Canton, Ohio.
