Spokane Shock News Release

The Spokane Shock announced today that WR/DB Ron Rockett and FB/LB Benjamin Brown have been assigned to the 2007 roster.

Brown, 6'1' 250, signed a free agent contract with the Green Bay Packers in 2006 before being released at the end of training camp. Prior to signing with the Packers, Brown was a two-year starter at Tabor (Kan.) College where he helped led the team to a school best 11-1 record, a second round playoff appearance, and a conference championship. In 2005, Brown recorded 507 yards and three touchdowns on just 77 carriers. He also was a receiving threat out of the backfield accounting for 24 catches and 304 yards.

"Ben brown is an NFL-type fullback and he can be a real weapon for us down on the goal line," Head Coach Adam Shackleford said. "He's a great player and great person off the field. He's the kind of kid that every coach wants to have around."

Rockett, 6' 200, attended the University of Wyoming where he enjoyed a standout senior season in 2005, recording five pass break-ups, two interceptions, and a team leading 85 tackles. As a junior, Rockett started eight games totaling 56 tackles, an interception (that he returned for 33 yards) and one forced fumble,

"Ronnie Rocket is a great tackler, a great cover guy and an extremely hard worker," Shackleford said. "He's a tough defensive back."

Rockett and Brown join the Shock's roster that now has 15 players signed to it. The Shock will begin their quest to defend the Championship on Saturday, March 31st as they host the Stockton Lightning at the Spokane Arena at Northern Quest Casino Field. Season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling 509 242 7462.
