(Wilkes-Barre, PA) The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers are thrilled to announce the assignment of Penn State University and All-Big Ten quarterback Zack Mills for the 2007 season. Mills is a 6'3, 214-pound quarterback, who set a Penn State school record of 7,796 yards of total offense, will be seeing his first season of play with the af2 this year.
While at Penn State, Mills had an exceptional career. In 2004, his last season as a Nittany Lion, he completed 155 passes with a total of 1,722 yards and accomplished an impressive passer rating of 113.93. By the end of his college career he tied Penn State school records for career touchdown passes with 41, along with 16 career 200-yard passing games. Mills would also be the first Penn State player under Joe Paterno to throw, catch, and run for a touchdown in a single game, which occurred in a 2004 meeting with the Akron Zips.
Mills was also a three-time Davey O'Brien Award finalist and was presented the 2004 Hall Foundation Award as Penn State's outstanding senior football player. In addition, Mills led his team to the Capital One Bowl at the end of the 2002 season.
Since graduating from Penn State University Mills spent the 2004 preseason in the Washington Redskins' training camp as an undrafted free agent. He was later released by the organization before the season began. Currently Mills has been working as an assistant football coach at Temple University.
The Pioneers' Organization acknowledges that the assignment of Zack Mills to the Pioneers' 2007 Roster is the biggest assignment in the team's history.
