June 1, 2007- The Spokane Shock announced today that DL Devon Parks has been assigned to their 2007 roster by the League Office. Parks, 6'2" 252, was recently released from Cleveland Browns mini-camp after a decorated career at Bowling Green State University. To make room on their roster for Parks, DL Micah Littlejohn was placed on recallable reassignment.
Parks set a school record by starting in 49 games over his four-year career that he completed in 2006. A team captain his senior season, he recorded a personal best nine sacks with 55 total tackles. Over his entire four-year career, he recorded 22 sacks, 193 tackles (including 37 for a loss) with five forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
"Devon is an instant upgrade on our defensively line," Head Coach Adam Shackleford said. "He has tremendous athletic ability, and quickness for someone of his size. On top of all that, he has great character."
Shackleford also added that Parks will be in the starting line-up this weekend as the Shock take on cross-state rival the Everett Hawks. This sold out game will be broadcast on KAYU FOX 28 with a 5 PM kick-off.
