Frierson, Francies Back In The Fold

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Lightning of the arenafootball2 league have announced DB York Frierson and DB Diamond Francies have been activated from the team suspension list and OL/DL Amadeo Novella has been placed on the injured reserve list.

Through two games, Frierson has tallied 7.5 tackles, one interception and one pass breakup with the Lightning.

The 29-year old previously had a brief stint with the af2's Macon Knights in 2005. Prior to his time in Macon, Frierson had a 16-game outing with the Bakersfield Blitz in 2003 where he ranked third on the Blitz with 28 tackles, while tallying one interception and four pass breakups. Additionally, the Inglewood, California native compiled 15 rushing attempts with 23 yards and four touchdowns, while compiling 38 receptions for 318 yards and three touchdown scores.

In 2002, Frierson ranked fourth on the Blitz with 30 tackles in just nine games during his rookie season, additionally tallying 2.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions and nine pass breakups.

Frierson's college football experience extends to stints with the University of Oregon (NCAA), where he played under famed head coach Mike Bellotti, and Brigham Young University (NCAA).

Francies, 22, spent his college football career at American River College and Sacramento State University (NCAA) before transferring for his 2006 senior campaign at NCAA Division-II Humboldt State. The Northern California product helped guide the Jacks to a 9-1 record while ranking seventh on the team with 37 tackles and was second on the team with six pass breakups. Additionally, Francies had two interceptions for the season.

This season, Francies ranks third on the Lightning with 30 tackles, six pass breakups and has three tackles-for-loss.

Novella, an af2 rookie, was assigned to the Lightning on April 27 and has appeared in one game this season.

The Lightning return to play for week 10 of af2 action this Saturday against the expansion Tri-Cities Fever at Stockton Arena, beginning at 7:00 p.m. to kickoff the second half of the af2 season. The game can be heard live on radio at 1420-AM KSTN and on the internet at www.stocktonlightning.com, courtesy of SportsJuice.com (audio) and B2 Networks (video). The video feed is available for a $6 "pay-per-view" charge.

In 2006, the Lightning ranked third in af2 attendance with an average of 7,445 fans per home game.
