Rockford, IL-Jason Shelley won his third straight decision and the RiverHawks (13-12) now have a franchise record five game winning streak. Shelley tossed a complete game shutout in a 1-0 victory over the Eastern Division leader Washington WildThings. 1B Casey DeGroote knocked in the only run of the game in the fourth inning on a RBI single that scored Ben Fjelland. The star of the night though was Jason Shelley. He struck out twelve and scattered five hits. Shelley (4-1) now has a Frontier League leading 55 strikeouts on the season. Matt McDonnell (2-1) was tagged with the loss for Washington.
The Richmond Roosters will travel into Marinelli Field tomorrow night. It will be Six-Pack Cooler giveaway sponsored by Pepsi, Hot 105.9 FM, and WTVO Channel 17. On Sunday, the King himself will be back in town. Elvis will be at Marinelli thanks to Fox-39 and WQFL. The team will then travel to Mid-Missouri for a three-game set. Midwest Championship Wrestling will be at Marinelli Field on July 12. The action starts at 7:00 p.m., with gates opening at 6:00. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased by calling the RiverHawks at 964-BALL.
The Rockford RiverHawks are hosting a Los Lobos concert in the Marinelli Field parking lot on Sunday, July 27. Gates open at 12:00 p.m. and the concert begins at 1:00 p.m. People who have tickets to the concert will get into the game for free and concessions will be open. Tickets are on sale now.
