
Shelley and McCrotty Lead Rockford to 7-0 Shutout Win over River City

Jason Shelley (7-1) pitched eight shutout innings and allowed just 4 hits with nine strikeouts to lead the Rockford Riverhawks to a 7-0 shutout of the Rascals before the 2nd largest crowd in Rascals history at T.R. Hughes Ballpark on Saturday night.
The standing room only crowd of 6,222 is the largest crowd of the season, thanks in part to the Super Series opening ceremonies before the game. Another Super Series ceremony is scheduled for July 19th at T.R. Hughes Ballpark.
Kelly Johnson (0-1) pitched six innings with five runs allowed and suffered the loss. Chad Pennington and Dan Krines finished the game for the Rascals.
Bobby Matthews belted his 1st homer of the season, a three-run shot, in the 4th inning for Rockford. Wes McCrotty pitched a perfect 9th inning to close the game for the Riverhawks.
Rob Shabansky will start for the Rascals on Sunday night against Joshua Tomsu in a 6:05pm game.
MINI BOBBLEHEADS ON SUNDAY NIGHT!!!
The first 1,000 fans to enter the park on Sunday night will receive a mini-bobblehead of Ruffy the Rascal courtesy of Dairy Queen. Also, kids get to run the bases after the ballgame and fans can purchase 6 GA tickets for six dollars with a coupon from the Saturday Post-Dispatch.
