Corvallis Knights News Release

Corvallis Knights' catcher Chris Shaw will miss the remainder of the season with a hamate bone injury, the team announced Monday.

A junior-to-be at the University of Oklahoma, Shaw hit .194 (6-31) in nine games, with no homers and two RBIs, before being forced out of the lineup. He played at Midland (Texas) College the past two seasons.

Shaw was selected in the 14th round of the recent MLB draft by the St. Louis Cardinals as the 435th overall pick. He was a WJCAC first-team all-star and a NJCAA Region 5 first-team all-star and led Midland to the JC Division I World Series this past spring.

Pitcher Joey Wise tweaked a hamstring while retiring the final batter of the eighth inning on a strikeout in a 12-1 win over Kelowna this past Saturday and will be sidelined for about two weeks. A sophomore-to-be at Grand Canyon, Wise is 0-0, 0.00 in four games, with a save and five strikeouts in 6.2 innings.

Also, third baseman Jackson Soto of West Albany High School; infielder Kevin Farley of Portland; outfielder Phil Leopold of Bellermine and catcher and Josh Latta of Tacoma CC have been added to the roster on a full-time basis. They were originally 10-day signees.
