
Kelowna Falcons Win Finale on Sunday

The Falcons used their final nine outs to perfection on Sunday afternoon, ending their six game road trip with a 5-2 win Corvallis.
Down 2-0 in the seventh the offense scored three times on the strength of three doubles in the inning. Nick Minteer led off with a double, then scored on a double from Thomas Lane. Three batters later Trey Kamachi doubled home Lane with the eventual winning run.
In the ninth the Falcons tacked on two more runs. Colton Waltner scored on Kamachi's single, then Josh Croft crossed on a Jerod Smith ground out.
In all the Falcons offense collected 12 hits and saw multi-hit games from Minteer, Kamachi and Kevin Biro.
The pitching staff got a lift with two solid performances from Jeremy Newton and Riley Barr. Starter Newton threw 4.2 innings allowing one earned run on five hits and only walked two. Barr threw 4.1 shutout innings in relief, striking out five and recorded the win.
The Falcons (6-9) finish the six game road trip with a 3-3 record. The club heads home to prepare for a three game series with divisional foe the Yakima Pippins (6-6) on Tuesday.
