Wilmington, N.C. - The Wilmington Sharks (10-7, 24-20) for the second night in a row won in walk off fashion on a pass ball to beat the Gastonia Grizzlies (6-8, 16-26) at home 7-6 in 10 innings.
The game was highlighted by a combined 25 hits and 13 runs between both teams as it ended in fireworks.
Henry Rudino got things going first in the top of the second inning for the Grizzlies as he picked up a two RBI single to give Gastonia an early 2-0 lead. The Sharks answered with a run in the bottom half of the second on an Austin Below base hit that scored Tommy Houmard to make it 2-1 after two.
Blake Houston led off the top of the fourth inning with a single and eventually scored on an errant pickoff throw to first base that allowed him to score to give the Grizzlies a 3-1 lead. The Sharks picked up three runs on four hits in the bottom of the fifth inning that was highlighted by a two out two RBI single off the bat of Cody Dolan to give the Sharks a 4-3 lead. Kane Barrow tied up the game in the top of the seventh inning for Gastonia on an RBI single to score Tyler Beckwith to make it 4-4.
The Sharks took the lead back in the bottom of the eighth inning as they picked up two runs on two hits to take a 6-4 lead going into the top of the ninth inning.
