Sharks to Open Training Camp February 22

JACKSONVILLE - The ArenaBowl XXIV Champion Jacksonville Sharks announced Tuesday that the team will begin its 2012 training camp on February 22, approximately three weeks before its regular-season opener on March 16 at Kansas City.

After Saturday's open player tryout, the 2012 Sharks will gather as a team for the first time on February 22, a day that will consist of introductory meetings and film study. The first helmet-only mini-camp practice is slated for the 23rd, while the team will wear full pads for the first time on the 27th.

March 3 marks the team's preseason scrimmage against the New Orleans VooDoo, to be held at 12:30 p.m. on Sea Best Field at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena.

Training camp continues through March 7. The team's first "game week" preparation begins on March 11, leading up to the game in Kansas City against the Command.

Most practices will be held at Plantation Park, located at 3060 Race Track Road in St. Johns. Beginning February 23, training camp practices will typically be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and will be open to the public, with two exceptions. The team's practices on February 25 and March 9 will take place at Glen Kernan Golf & Country Club and will be closedto the public.

While the Sharks will make every effort to adhere to the released schedule, practice times and locations are subject to change due to weather and other circumstances.

February 23-25: Practice, 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. (February 25 practice is CLOSED)

February 26: Off day

February 27-29: Practice, 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

March 1: Off day

March 2: Practice, 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

March 3: Preseason scrimmage vs. New Orleans VooDoo, 12:30 p.m.

March 5-7: Practice, 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

March 8: Off day

March 9: Practice, time TBD (CLOSED)

March 10: Off day

March 11-14: Practice, 10:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.

March 15: Travel to Kansas City

March 16: Jacksonville Sharks @ Kansas City Command, 8:30 p.m.
