
Sharks Take Series Finale from 'Fish

(Bridgeport, Conn. - Apr. 29, 2012) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (2-2) suffered a loss to the Camden Riversharks (2-2) by a score of 6-0 at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Sunday.
The Riversharks got on the board in the third inning. With one out, Chris Walker went to first on a walk and advanced to third on single by Lloyd Turner. A sacrifice fly to center by Felix Pie brought Walker to the plate.
Camden extended the lead in the fifth. After two outs had been recorded, Turner walked and advanced to second on a single by Pie. Brian Burgamy followed with a single to right which allowed the second runner too cross the plate.
Bridgeport could not hold down the Riversharks in the fifth inning as the road squad put up three more runs. The innings was highlighted by a Chris Walker two-run triple to rightcenter and a sacrifice fly to center by Pie later in the frame.
Riversharks starter, Keith Weiser, did not factor in the decision as the southpaw pitched three innings and allowed four hits and a walk while fanning two. Humberto Sanchez (1-0) replaced Weiser and earned his first victory of the year. The righthander gave up two hits and a walk while striking out two. Michael Mehlich, Jason Bergmann and John Lujan combined for the final four scoreless innings on three hits, two walks and five strikeouts.
Bridgeport starter, Matt Pike (0-1), suffered the loss. The righthander surrendered just one run on four hits and three walks while striking out four. Brad Furnish, Joe Bateman, Kyle Zaleski and newly signed Dan Stange completed the final five frames for the Bluefish. Camden scored five runs on five hits and five walks against the tandem. The Bluefish quartet struck out five Riversharks hitters.
The Bluefish start a three-game set against the Long Island Ducks on Tuesday night. The first pitch from The Ballpark at Harbor Yard is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. It is Kid's Eat Free Tuesday presented by Big Y World Class Market. All kids 12 and under will be entitled to a free hot dog, bag of chips and a 12 ounce fountain soda.
