A Quick Look Back

3.7.07 - Portland 4 - Worcester 1

The final visit to Portland for the Sharks was spoiled by a great night of goaltending from Sebastien Caron, who led the Pirates to a 4-1 win in game nine of the Unum Challenge.

3.9.07 - Worcester 4 - Hartford 1

The Worcester Sharks won an extremely important game on Friday night as they beat the red-hot Hartford Wolf Pack by a score of 4-1. Thomas Greiss sparkled in goal for Worcester with 31 saves to record his 15th win of the season. Grant Stevenson, Patrick Traverse, Ashton Rome and Josh Prudden all had goals for the Sharks.

3.10.07 - Worcester 3 - Manchester 1

After defeating the second place Hartford Wolf Pack last night, the Worcester Sharks took care of Atlantic Division leading Manchester by the score of 3-1 on home ice at the DCU Center.

Fighting the Current in the Atlantic...

The Worcester Sharks took four of a possible six points this weekend and continue to fight for a playoff spot in the Atlantic Division. With the Sharks having Sunday off, the Lowell Devils were able to break the tie for fourth place with a 5-2 win over the Providence Bruins. Team Teal trails the Devils for that fourth spot by just two points. This week, the Sharks will look to make ground in the playoff race with games against Providence, Hershey and Portland.

Winning Games from the Blueline...

Defenseman Patrick Traverse scored his sixth goal of the year and fifth in a Worcester uniform. Traverse's five Worcester goals have all been game-winning goals and currently ranks tied for first in the category among defenseman. Traverse finished with three points on the week with one goal and two assists.

Plus for Prudden...

Forward Josh Prudden scored his fifth goal of the season on Friday night against the Hartford Wolf Pack. Prudden has 22 points in 42 games for the Sharks and is now tied with Brennan Evans for the team lead in plus-minus with a plus-12.

Racing Past...

Sharks forward Tom Cavanagh is having a career year in Worcester this season. The Rhode Island native has racked up 30 points (9+21=30) in 59 games played. During his rookie season with the Cleveland Barons in 2005-06, Cavanagh compiled 21 points (10+11=21) in 62 games.

DCU Host Sharks Street Brigade...

On Saturday, March 17th, the Worcester Sharks and Digital Federal Credit Union will team up for a Sharks Street Brigade at the Worcester Branch located at 225 Shrewsbury St. There will be two sessions held for the Sharks Street Brigade with the first beginning at 11:00 a.m., while the second session will begin at 1:00 p.m. Each session will last one hour long. To sign up, visit www.sharksahl.com/dcustreetbrigade.asp - each child must have a parent or guardian present to sign a waiver. Each participant will receive a $5 deposit toward a Looney Tunes Kids' Club, courtesy of DCU.
