Sharks Sign Receiver Vinny Gregory

JACKSONVILLE - The 2019 National Arena League Champion Jacksonville Sharks have announced today the signing of wide receiver Vinny Gregory. Gregory joins the Jacksonville Sharks for his rookie year of arena football and first year with the Sharks.

Vinny Gregory (5'8, 170) signed with the Carolina Cobras for the 2020 season but chose to sign with the Sharks over re-signing with the Cobras to start his rookie year in the National Arena League. Gregory began his college career at Erie Community College where he played for two seasons. As a receiver for ECC, he combined 39 catches for 419 yards and scored three touchdowns. His best season with the Kats came in 2016 where he started in every game for Erie, leading the team in receptions (32) and receiving yards (344), he also caught at least one pass in every game including six receptions for 73 yards against Nassau CC. Gregory served as a top receiver helping the Kats to a perfect 6-0 road record and 7-3 overall record.

In 2017, Gregory transferred to Edinboro University, a Division II school in Edinboro, PA where he played in six games at the receiver and on special teams before transferring to Buffalo State in 2018. As a Buffalo State Bengal, Gregory played in 10 games snagging 12 receptions for 136 yards and one touchdown during his single season at Buffalo State. Following his college career, he got a workout with the Buffalo Bills during the NFL rookie minicamp period in 2019 and was invited to the XFL Tampa Combine where he competed for a spot on XFL rosters in 2020.

Vinny Gregory hails from Amherst, NY where he attended Amherst High School and featured as a star running back strong safety, and served as a kick returner for Amherst. As a leading rusher Gregory played in 25 games amassing 112 carries for 942 yards and seven touchdowns during his high school career, boasting four 100+ yard games. He also proved to have solid hands catching six passes for 108 yards and one touchdown as a running back. On defense, Gregory racked up 62 tackles, four tackles for a loss, and four sacks, and three pass breakups. On special teams, Gregory returned seven kicks for 143 yards averaging 20.4 yards per return during his high school career.
