CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas, May 29th, 2008 - The Corpus Christi Sharks celebrated the midway point of the 2008 season last Saturday night with a 47-38 drubbing of the Daytona Beach Thunderbirds. In just their 2nd season, the Sharks are 4-4 on the year and currently sit atop the Southwest Division of Arena Football 2's - National Conference.

Through the first half of the 2008 season, attendance for home games at Radiology Associates Field @ The American Bank Center has averaged close to 4,500 fans - an increase of 1,300 fans per game over the same period a year ago. In addition to improved play on the field, Sharks games have included entertainment by the Freddie Urban All-Stars, a diamond give away, pink jerseys, free t-shirts as well as a performance by the award winning Calallen High School drum line.

"We believe it's important to be involved in the community," said Sharks Vice President & General Manager, Larry Linde, "Our goal is to provide our fans with great football and exciting entertainment for the entire family. I believe that we've shown that we're dedicated to doing that."

The team has also enjoyed tremendous support this season from local business partners such as CITGO and Radiology Associates. "I was at a game early in the season, and to see the crowd and the excitement in the building, it was something special and something we wanted to be a part of," CITGO Spokesperson Jesse Garcia said.

Team management stressed the value of local business and investor participation. "The Sharks are a part of the Coastal Bend community and having local investors and business involvement ensures that the team reflects the values and flavor of Corpus Christi," said Sharks Owner / President and former Dallas Cowboys Coach, Joe Avezzano, "Our goal continues to be one of providing a team that the entire community can be proud of, both on and off the field"

This week Corpus Christi travels to North Little Rock, AR to take on the Arkansas Twisters. The next home game is Saturday night, June 7th, when the Sharks host the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz at Radiology Associates Field @ the American Bank Center on Faith & Football Night. All fans in attendance will be able to enjoy a free post game concert by contemporary Christian artists Come December.
