Corpus Christi Sharks News Release
In a see-saw battle that featured twelve lead changes the Corpus Christi Sharks surrendered possession of first place in the Southwest Division of the National Conference with a 45-49 loss to the Austin Wranglers at Radiology Associates Field inside the American Bank Center Saturday night.
Kenyada Tatum's 4-yard touchdown run gave the Sharks a 45-42 lead with 4:40 left in the ballgame but Austin, who held the ball for over 40 minutes, put together a back breaking drive capped off by a 7-yard touchdown run by Kamau Jackson with :14 left gave Austin (6-5) the lead for good.
Sharks quarterback Fran Johnson completed 21 of 27 passes for 234 yards and threw a franchise record tying six touchdown passes in the loss.
Brandon Hussey, Jonathan Graham and Kenyada Tatum each had two touchdown receptions for the Sharks, but turnovers and penalties at inopportune times proved to be too much for the team to overcome.
Corpus Christi will travel to Houston to take on the Texas Copperheads on Saturday night before returning home on to face the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings on June 28th.
