Dusters top Dorados, 49-35

AMARILLO, TEXAS- The Amarillo Dusters hosted the Rio Grande Valley Dorados this week at the Amarillo Civic Center Arena for America's Heroes Night. The Dusters took care of business, beating the Dorados 49-35.

The Dorados drew the first blood with a touchdown run by WR Anthony Chambers. The Dusters offense got off to a rough start, but new WR bobby Chase picked up the first down on a fourth and three that turned into a Dusters touchdown from QB Julian Reese to WR Craig Fulton. Rio Grande Valley answered with one play, a 45 yard pass from QB Travis Cole to WR Jermaine Carpenter for another Dorado touchdown. After a couple of offsides penalties by the Dorados, Dusters QB Reese found WR Jim Lukowiak for six.

Rio Grande Valley started the second quarter with another long pass from QB Travis Cole to WR Jermaine Carpenter in the endzone. The Dorados recovered a Dusters fumble on a kickoff return to get the ball back and score another six points to put Rio Grande ahead by two touchdowns. The Dusters offense worked the ball down the field, but a deflected touchdown pass on a fourth and goal attempt gave the ball back to the Dorados. The Dusters recovered a Dorados fumble with less than a minute to go in the first half, but another Dusters fumble gave the ball back to Rio Grande. Dusters DB Aaron Williams intercepted the ball as time ran out.

After a scoreless second quarter, the Dusters started off the second half with a 13 yard touchdown pass from QB Julian Reese to WR Jim Lukowiak, bringing the team within one touchdown of the Dorados. The Dusters defense forced the Dorados to a missed field goal attempt by kicker Brian Hazelwood. A three yard run by Julian Reese for a touchdown and an extra point by Jacob Felton put the Dusters back in the lead by one point at the end of the third quarter.

The Dusters defense continued to stand strong, Dusters DB Aaron Williams caught a one-handed interception to set up another Dusters touchdown. QB Julian Reese connected with WR Bobby Chase on a ?? yard pass. Dusters Craig Fulton, Jr. intercepted a pass to keep the Dorados out of the endzone. Amarillo would go on to score twice more and Rio Grande Valley would score once more to finish the game.

Amarillo's Julian Reese is the Schutt Offensive Player of the Game with 17passes for 220 yards and 6 touchdowns. JLS Ironman of the game is Amarillo's Craig Fulton, Jr., in his second game after being released from IR. Aaron Williams of Amarillo is ADT Defensive Player of the Game for his performance at the DB position.

Bobby Chase of Amarillo earned the Cutter's Catch of the Game with catch against the sideline in the first quarter to give the Dusters a first down.
