Jacksonville Sharks News Release

JACKSONVILLE- The Jacksonville Sharks (1-1) travel to Columbus, Georgia to take on the undefeated Columbus Lions (1-0) in a National Arena League Championship rematch. The game last year could've ended either way, but the Sharks came out on top 27-21. The Lions look to continue their undefeated season and get redemption, while the Sharks look to stay above a .500 record. The Sharks and Lions have faced each other a total of three times in the NAL, all three of which have been Sharks victories.

Last week against the Pirates, the Sharks got off to a quick start, throwing a touchdown pass in just a few plays. Quarterback Patrick McCain had 14 completions for 163 Yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions. McCain also had four rushes for 29 yards. Wide Receiver Antonio Vaughan was the star of the show, having eight receptions for 137 yards and four touchdowns. Due to an injury to McCain, backup quarterback Ryan Walker took over, making four completions for 56 yards and one touchdown.

The Sharks defensive line looked great, as Damien Jacobs intercepted a pass and returned it to the house for a touchdown but failed to prevent Pirates quarterback Sean Brackett from scoring he finished the night with five touchdowns.

The Sharks will look to come out with a victory his weekend as they look to repeat what happened last year in the championship. To do this, the defense has to slow down their receivers, rush the quarterback as much as possible, and most importantly, force turnovers. On the other side of the ball, the quarterback needs to get in a rhythm early in the game, receivers need to find a way to make plays, and as always, the offensive line needs to protect the quarterback.

The Sharks face the Lions a total of four times this season, two of which will be in Jacksonville. This Saturday's game will be streamed on Youtube Live, a link to the stream will be posted on www.facebook.com/jaxsharks
