Sharks late surge proves not to be enough

A slow start by the Corpus Christi Sharks put the team in a 21-0 hole at the conclusion of the first quarter proved to be too much to dig themselves out of despite a late game surge as Arkansas held on to defeat the Sharks (4-5) 44-51 at the Alltell Arena in Little Rock, AR, on Saturday night.

The Sharks shook off the cob webs as the game wore on, outscoring the Twisters 44-30 in the final three quarters of the ball game, giving Arkansas a scare before the Twisters (5-4) converted a fourth down and two immediately following the 1:00 warning, sealing the deal on a the Twisters second win over the Sharks this season.

Sharks quarterback Fran Johnson completed 13 of his final 19 attempts after struggling early in the ball game, finishing 15 of 30 for 176 yards with one interception and three touchdown passes. Johnson also ran for two touchdowns in the ballgame.

Jonathan Graham led the Sharks with eight receptions for 106 yards and one touchdown and Kenyada Tatum caught six passes for 67 yards and two scores.

The Sharks will return home for Faith and Football Night on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. when they take on the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz (2-7) at Radiology Associates Field inside the American Bank Center. Score by Quarters 1 2 3 4 Score
