JACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville Sharks and the Arena Football League announced Tuesday that Jacksonville wide receiver Joe Hills has been selected as the AFL's Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Week for Week 12 of the 2015 season. Hills is being honored for his performance in the Sharks' 63-56 loss to the Tampa Bay Storm on Friday, June 12.

In Friday's game, the 27-year-old Hills (6'4", 220) found the end zone early and often, totaling nine receptions for 126 yards and six touchdowns. With that performance, Hills matched a franchise record, as he became the second player in team history with six scores in a single game. Hills helped kickstart the Sharks' offense in the first half, catching four of his six touchdowns in the game's first two quarters. In the fourth quarter, Hills came up with a pair of touchdown receptions on fourth-down plays, adding a two-point conversion that tied the score at 56-56 in the final minutes.

With his six touchdowns and one two-point conversion, Hills' total of 38 points scored both established a new single-game franchise record and stands as the highest individual point total in the AFL this season. Two thirds of the way through the 2015 season, Hills is tied for second among AFL receivers with 28 touchdowns and ranks third with 103 receptions. He also ranks second on the team and eighth in the League with 1,029 receiving yards.

Dating back to his time with the Tampa Bay Storm in previous seasons, Hills has now caught at least one touchdown in 47 consecutive games played, the longest active streak in the AFL.

Hills' honor is the fourth weekly award won by a Shark this season. Hills was named the J. Lewis Small Playmaker of the Week for Week 1, while fellow receiver Tiger Jones was named the Offensive Player of the Week for Week 3 and earned the Cutters Catch of the Week following Week 4.
