Sharks Head Coach Roy Sommer and FINZ to participate in Passion Plunge for Special Olympics

WORCESTER - The Worcester Sharks announced today that Head Coach Roy Sommer and the Sharks mascot, FINZ, will be taking part in the Passion Plunge at Indian Lake in Worcester on Saturday, February 3 to help benefit the Special Olympics of Massachusetts. Coach Sommer and FINZ are expected to Plunge at 12:00 p.m.
For Sommer, participation in the Plunge holds even more meaning. Sommer's son, Marley, has Downs Syndrome and autism. He knows, first-hand, what a huge difference the Special Olympics can have on a child with disabilities.
"Anytime you can help out the Special Olympics, do it," said Sommer. "They appreciate it so much and it's such a great cause. It offers a chance for them to go play with kids that don't care. When they go to Special Olympics, they meet their own peers, kids at their own level. Those are mostly kids that they know for life.
"I wouldn't miss it for the world," added Sommer.
Sommer and FINZ are taking donations to benefit this worthy cause. Fans can either visit the Sharks Fan Assistance table on the main concourse outside section 123 during the February 2nd game against Bridgeport at the DCU Center, or call the Sharks Offices at 508.929.0500.
