Sharks Head Coach Finalizes 2022 Coaching Staff

JACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville Sharks officially announce it's full coaching staff for the upcoming 2022 NAL season. Last month the Sharks announced Siaha Burley as their head coach for 2022. The two-time NAL Champion coach returned to Jacksonville and made his message very clear about his 2022 goal, to restore the Sharks to their championship reputation.

Director of Player Personnel & Scouting - Shane Oehler

Tim Shelley comes to Jacksonville after serving as the defensive coordinator of the Massachusetts Pirates. Prior to the Pirates he was the defensive coordinator of the Georgia Doom of the American Arena League (AAL). As defensive coordinator for the Sharks Shelley brings pro playing experience at the arena level to this position as he had a successful career playing in the Arena Football League where he was a defensive back for the Tampa Bay Storm, Spokane Shock, and Portland Steel. Shelley also found success on the turf in the Indoor Football League (IFL) where he played for the Green Bay Blizzard and Cedar Rapids Titans before he retired. Coach Shelley played for the division II powerhouse Fort Valley State where he played defensive back. Coach Shelley enters his first season with the Sharks and is from Macon, GA.

Clay Harrell is a AFL veteran coach who enters his first season with the Sharks as the offensive & defensive lineman coach. Harrell recently was the defensive coordinator / line coach of the Columbus Destroyers of the AFL in 2019. Prior to that he served as the defensive line / strength & conditioning coach with the Cleveland Gladiators in 2017. Harrell also spent time as the offensive/defensive line coach for the Orlando Predators and Portland Thunder of the AFL. As a player he was a standout fullback with the Spokane Shock helping the team to an Arena Bowl XXIII victory in 2010 after his college playing career where he played for Northern State University. Coach Harrell is from Sacramento, CA.

Charlie Hunt enters his fourth year on the Sharks coaching staff, serving the last three seasons as the player personnel / special teams coach. This season Coach Hunt will be the offensive assistant coach to Coach Burley. In 2019, Charlie Hunt was part of the 15-1 dominating NAL season where the Shark won their second NAL championship title. Charlie also helped the team to their first NAL title but as a player, he was a Sharks captain, jack linebacker, and the NAL Defensive Player of the Year during the 2017 season. Hunt had a decorated arena football career spending most of it here with the Jacksonville Sharks in the AFL where he was a First Team All-Arena Jack Linebacker while also playing receiver throughout his career with the Sharks. In 2012, Charlie Hunt played with the Arena Bowl XXIV champion Jacksonville Sharks during the teams second season as a franchise & first-ever league championship victory. Currently, Coach Hunt coaches high school football in his hometown here in Jacksonville where he is the offensive coordinator of Episcopal High School.

Shane Oehler rejoins the Sharks after several seasons with the team both as a regional & national scout for the Sharks. Oehler spent the 2019 season on the Orlando Predators coaching staff working in player personnel & scouting. Oehler assisted Burley with his 2017 NAL championship roster and will enter his third season working on Burley's staff. Shane is a local from Jacksonville, FL attended Trinity Christian Academy and currently lives in St. Augustine, FL.
