Wilmington Sharks News Release
Wilmington, N.C. - The Edenton Steamers (21-8, 1-2) came away with a 4-0 victory on Thursday night over the Wilmington Sharks (14-15, 0-2) on timely hits and a good pitching performance from Nick Miller.
Miller was the winning pitcher for the Steamers as he tossed a complete game shutout as he gave up eight hits and struck out three to improve his record to 3-0 on the year. The sharks were able to out hit the Steamers eight to six, but were unable to pick up any runs as they stranded eight runners during the game.
Edenton was able to get on the board first in the top of the third inning on a RBI infield single off the bat of Trent Miller to give the Steamers an early 1-0 lead. In the top of the seventh inning, the Steamers picked up three runs on three hits off the bats of Alex Delgado, Chase Harris and Nick Thompson to extend the lead to 4-0 and hang on for the victory.
Zach Stephens, Alex Freedman, and Zach MacAneney each picked up two hits in the ball game for the Sharks.
The Wilmington Sharks return back to action on Friday night as they will go on the road to take on the Wilson Tobs with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch.
