Jacksonville Sharks News Release

JACKSONVILLE - The ArenaBowl XXIV Champion Jacksonville Sharks announced Thursday that the team will hold its first annual First Class High School Cheerleader Showcase on Friday, July 6, 2012 during the team's game against the Milwaukee Mustangs on Sea Best Field at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena.

The showcase gives high school cheerleaders an opportunity to display their talent in front of over 10,000 fans. Taking place during halftime of the team's nationally televised game, the performance will be choreographed by Attack Dance Team Director Kimberly Newbern.

"We are extremely excited to have our First Class High School Showcase at an upcoming Sharks game," Newbern said. "I think the experience of cheering on front of 10,000 fans will be a moment these athletes will never forget."

Preparation for the showcase will begin with a team bonding event to be held on Sunday, July 1. In the week leading up to the game, all participating cheerleaders will then attend a practice session at First Class Athletics, the Jacksonville cheerleading gym owned and operated by Newbern. Once the routine is mastered, the week will culminate in the halftime performance.

Teams who would like to participate in this year's showcase can find more information about the event at www.jaxsharks.com/danceteam/cheerleader_showcase. On that page, those interested in the showcase will also be able to download a registration form that must be filled out and returned to the Sharks. Teams planning on participating in this year's showcase are asked to contact Newbern on or before Friday, June 29. More specific contact information is listed on the registration form.
