Jacksonville Sharks News Release

JACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville Sharks have announced that they will be partnering with the Alzheimer's Association for an awareness night featuring RivALZ, a women-led flag football game. RivALZ just started a new chapter right here in Jacksonville that is dedicated to bringing Alzheimer's awareness through events and fundraising. The Jacksonville Sharks will be hosting RivALZ's first ever football game in Jacksonville as the game will be played in the Veterans Memorial Arena. The game will feature two teams composed of women who will compete both on the field and in the community as both set fundraising goals and hold community events to grow support for this great charity. Due to the partnership, RivALZ and the Sharks are proud to announce that the RivALZ flag football game will take place Saturday, June 27th at 1 p.m. in the Veterans Memorial Arena, doors will open for fans at 12:00pm. You may purchase RivALZ tickets for $25 by selecting your favorite player or team at their website https://act.alz.org/rivalzjax and clicking the "Buy Tickets'' button on the page. All proceeds go to the Alzheimer's Association. In addition to hosting the event, the Jacksonville Sharks will name their June 27 home game against the Jersey Flight "Alzheimer's Awareness Night" in hopes to make an impact on a disease that affects 5.8 million Americans today.

"I decided to get involved with RivALZ due to seeing how Alzheimer's has affected those close to me. I already play in several flag football leagues, and figured what better way to give back than do something I love while helping those I love at the same time!" Stated Gwendolyn Mueller, RivALZ Jacksonville Founder, Chair, and Purple Team Captain.

The Jacksonville Sharks will offer the community a unique dual-ticket offer allowing anyone to attend both the RivALZ Flag Football game at the arena at 1 p.m. and the Sharks Alzheimer's Awareness Night at 7 p.m. for a charity day of football and fundraising. Dual event tickets start at $35 and include entry to both the RivALZ Flag Football Game and the Sharks Game with proceeds going to the Alzheimer's Association. Dual ticket purchases will be available at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/jacksonville-sharks-tickets-rivalz-jax-2020-tickets-99881516304

Any season ticket holders that want to show support and attend the RivALZ flag football game will have a single event ticket option to choose from at https://act.alz.org/rivalzjax. The Sharks and RivALZ are looking for local businesses that would be interested in becoming the presenting sponsor of Alzheimer's Awareness Night. This sponsorship would include opportunities for your business as the primary sponsor at both the RivALZ Flag Football Game (1 p.m.) and the Sharks Alzheimer's Awareness Night (7 p.m.). Becoming the presenting sponsor will allow your business to be the third partner in this charitable mission with multiple collaborative events that occur leading up Alzheimer's Awareness Night. Contact dave@jaxsharks.com if you have a company that may be interested. In addition, RivALZ is reaching out to all women 21+ who would like to take their skills to the turf by joining RivALZ as a flag football player. Anyone interested in joining and competing on the Sharks turf June 27th can sign up at https://act.alz.org/rivalzjax.

June 27th the Sharks face off against the New Jersey Flight at 7 p.m. for Star Wars Night and Alzheimer's Awareness Night. The Sharks have several alumni players including Charlie Hunt, Isaac Morales, and Sale Key who are involved with RivALZ as both coaches and supporting staff. RivALZ will be honored on the field during Alzheimer's Awareness Night and the winning team from the flag football fundraising will be recognized. For the spirit of competition, both team captains from RivALZ will go head to head in one last battle to end their 2020 RivALZ season live on the turf.
