February 18, 2014 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Jacksonville Sharks News Release

JACKSONVILLE - The four-time South Division Champion Jacksonville Sharks announced Tuesday that fullback Jared McGriff-Culver has been assigned to the team's 2014 roster on a one-year rookie contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 24-year-old McGriff-Culver (6'0", 265) is set for his first Arena Football League experience after participating in the Oakland Raiders' rookie minicamp following the 2013 National Football League Draft. McGriff-Culver also had an invitation to the Green Bay Packers' minicamp, choosing the opportunity with Oakland.

Prior to beginning his professional career, McGriff-Culver was a running back and special teamer at the University of Missouri. Used primarily as a blocking back on offense, McGriff Culver did not register a carry during his senior season in 2012, but chipped in with two receptions for 10 yards. He also was a regular on several special teams units, registering 10 total tackles and a fumble recovery in that role.

McGriff-Culver logged a career-high total of 111 rushing yards on 16 carries as a junior in 2011, scoring his first career touchdown in a game against Western Illinois. As a sophomore in 2010, he appeared in all 13 of the Tigers' games, logging six tackles on special teams. After joining the Missouri program as a walk-on in 2008, McGriff-Culver earned his first collegiate letter as a redshirt freshman during the 2009 season.

A native of Downers Grove, Ill., McGriff-Culver attended South High School, where he starred in football, basketball and baseball. He earned All-State honors as a senior after racking up 95 tackles, 11 sacks and one interception that year. McGriff-Culver was also the first freshman in school history to start a game for the Varsity football team.
