Jacksonville Sharks News Release
JACKSONVILLE - The ArenaBowl XXIV Champion Jacksonville Sharks announced Monday that wide receiver Josh Philpart has been assigned to the team's roster.
The 22-year-old Philpart recently completed a stellar career at Jacksonville University, where he holds the school's all-time career records for receptions (188), receiving yards (2,831) and receiving touchdowns (35). As a sophomore in 2009, Philpart set new school records with 912 receiving yards and 13 touchdown receptions. In a game against Morehead State in 2010, he became one of just three players in school history to catch three touchdown passes in a single game.
Philpart concluded his collegiate career in the fall of 2011, recording 50 catches for 675 yards and six touchdowns in his final campaign, helping the Dolphins finish the season 7-4. A native of Deerfield Beach, FL, Philpart played at Deerfield Beach High School before attending JU.
To make room for Philpart on the roster, the Sharks placed wide receiver V'Keon Lacey on reassignment. After Monday's transactions, the Sharks' roster currently stands at the league maximum of 24 active players.
