Sharks Add Four-Time All-Arena Receiver Tiger Jones

JACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville Sharks announced Monday that the team has made another significant addition through free agency, as veteran wide receiver Anthony "Tiger" Jones has been assigned to the Jacksonville roster on a one-year contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"With his consistent performance on the field, Tiger has proven himself to be an elite receiver in this league for an extended period of time," Sharks head coach Les Moss said. "We are excited to have Tiger's experience and playmaking ability in the fold as he becomes the most recent addition to our talented 2015 roster."

The 32-year-old Jones (5'11", 195) will make Jacksonville his next stop as he continues a remarkable Arena Football League career, during which he has earned four All-Arena honors over the course of his six seasons. He is also the first receiver in AFL history to compile three consecutive 2,000-yard seasons, accomplishing the feat in 2011, 2012 and 2013.

Though Jones did not get tabbed with an All-Arena nod in 2014, he still put together an impressive campaign with the Philadelphia Soul. This past season, Jones caught 114 passes for 1,646 yards and 33 touchdowns, leading Philadelphia in all three categories.

Jones earned All-Arena honors in each of his previous two seasons with Philadelphia. In 2013, he made the First Team after totaling 150 catches for 2,121 yards and 37 touchdowns. Jones opened that season with four consecutive three-touchdown games, and ultimately racked up 100 yards or more in 13 of the Soul's 18 games. In 2012, his first season in Philadelphia, Jones set a career high with 47 touchdown catches, grabbing 133 receptions for a total of 2,010 yards overall. That performance earned him a spot on the All-Arena Second Team.

Jones made his one season with the Dallas Vigilantes count, earning First-Team All-Arena and Wide Receiver of the Year honors in 2011 after leading the League with 171 receptions and 2,232 receiving yards. Jones also caught 42 touchdown passes that season. In Dallas' late-season matchup in Jacksonville, Jones exploded for 208 yards and five scores on 17 catches, one of the best single-game performances by an opposing receiver in Sharks team history.

Prior to his time in Dallas, Jones spent the 2010 season with the Milwaukee Iron, earning his first career All-Arena honor during his lone season with the team. Jones was named to the Second Team after totaling 125 receptions, 1,810 yards and 42 touchdowns. Jones first broke into the AFL with the Georgia Force in 2008, earning All-rookie recognition after piling up 96 receptions, 1214 yards and 29 touchdowns. While those rookie totals are impressive in their own right, Jones topped those figures in each of the five following seasons.

For his career, Jones has racked up 11,033 yards and 230 touchdowns on 789 receptions, ranking ninth, 10th and 13th all-time in those respective categories.

Before heading to professional football, Jones spent his collegiate career at the University of Louisville. Appearing in 51 games with the Cardinals, Jones caught 26 passes for 326 yards and four touchdowns during his time in college. A native of Mobile, Alabama, Jones attended St. Paul's Episcopal School.
