JACKSONVILLE - The ArenaBowl XXIV Champion Jacksonville Sharks added size to their receiving corps Tuesday, announcing that Marquis Avery has been assigned to the club's 2012 roster.
Avery (6'4", 207) joins the Sharks after finishing his collegiate career at San Jose State. During the 2009 season, Avery led the Spartans with six receiving touchdowns despite playing in just nine of the team's 12 games. He ranked second on his team in receptions (42), yards (465) and yards per game (51.7).
Before transferring to San Jose State, the 24-year-old Avery attended Fullerton College, where he caught a total of 88 passes for 1,201 yards and 14 touchdowns in his two seasons at the school. In 2008, Avery was named to the First-team All-Mission Conference squad. Avery is a native of Anaheim, CA and attended Savanna High School.
The Jacksonville Sharks are members of the Arena Football League (AFL).
