
Sharks Add Another Tryout Athlete to Roster

JACKSONVILLE, FL - The Jacksonville Sharks announce today the signing of defensive back Jeremy Lewis who was one of many athletes that competed in the Sharks winter tryout last month. His performance during the winter workout led to a call from the Sharks coaching staff and officially today he has been invited to compete in the Jacksonville Sharks training camp for the upcoming season. This will be Lewis' second season in arena football and first with the Jacksonville Sharks. Lewis is the second athlete to be signed from the winter tryout as yesterday the Sharks announced the signing of wide receiver / defensive back Miles Kelly.
Jeremy Lewis (5'10, 185) Spent his rookie season in the Champion Indoor Football League (CIF) with the Wichita Force. During his college career he played for East Tennessee State where he was a four-year starter for the Buccaneers. During his freshman season he played in 10 games with three starts at defensive back. He totaled 33 tackles, two pass breakups, and one interception. As a sophomore he gained nine starts in ten games finishing with 24 tackles, four pass breakups, and one fumble recovery. During his junior year he earned First Team All-SOCON Defensive honors starting in all 12 games for ETSU totaling 77 tackles, 11 pass breakups, 1.5 tackles for a loss, and one interception. Lewis and the Bucs finished the season 8-4, ranking second in the SOCON conference and earned a FCS playoff berth against Jacksonville State. As a senior he wrapped up his college career with Preseason First Team All-SOCON defensive honors playing in 12 games for the bucs where he racked up 55 tackles and nine pass breakups. Lewis finished his ETSU career with an impressive 189 career tackles and 26 pass breakups.
Lewis is from Lawrenceville, GA where he played for Collins Hill High School. During his high school career he played both football & track. He played both running back & defensive back piling on 730 yards and 10 rushing touchdowns on offense while recording 200 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown during his senior year. Lewis was a All-Region Most Valuable Offensive Back and an Outstanding Two-way Player Award in 2014.
