Sharks Add All-Arena Center Antonio Narcisse
March 15, 2015 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Jacksonville Sharks News Release
JACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville Sharks announced Sunday that veteran offensive lineman Antonio Narcisse has been assigned to the Jacksonville roster on a one-year contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The 32-year-old Narcisse (6'2", 340) heads to Jacksonville for his eighth season in the Arena Football League. In 2014, Narcisse earned First Team All-Arena honors for his work at center with the Pittsburgh Power. Starting 14 games that season, Narcisse's blocking proved crucial as Pittsburgh ranked third in the league with an average of 56.4 points scored per game. In addition, the Power yielded just 13 sacks that season, again ranking third-best in the AFL.
Narcisse is no stranger to working with quarterback Tommy Grady, as Narcisse spent three seasons with the Utah Blaze, starting a total of 43 regular-season games from 2011 through 2013. Narcisse's work along the offensive line helped the Blaze offense rack up 62.7 points per game in 2012, the season in which Grady set a new League record with 142 touchdown passes.
Prior to his time with Utah, Narcisse spent one season each with the Spokane Shock (2010), Cleveland Gladiators (2008) and New Orleans VooDoo (2007).
Before joining the AFL, Narcisse finished his collegiate career at Portland State University after transferring from the College of San Mateo. At Portland State, Narcisse earned All-Big Sky honorable mention honors as a senior in 2005, and previously earned First Team All-Big Sky recognition during his junior season.
Narcisse is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, and attended Sarah T. Reed High School.
In other Sunday transactions, the Sharks announced that wide receiver Jeron Harvey and wide receiver/defensive back Terrance Smith have been activated from Physically Unable to Perform.
