Sacramento Mountain Lions News Release
SACRAMENTO, CA - Friday, November 12, 2010 - The Sacramento Mountain Lions will have some of the San Francisco Giants World Series magic with them for their final regular season game. Giants mascot Lou Seal will join the party when the Mountain Lions host Jeff Garcia and the Omaha Nighthawks on Saturday, Nov. 13. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. at Hornet Stadium at Sacramento State.
The Giants, with Lou Seal alongside for the entire ride, recently won their first World Series title since the franchise moved to San Francisco in 1958.
"So many of our Mountain Lions fans are also Giants fans so we figured we'd bring part of that World Series flavor to our final home game," Mountain Lions Director of Business Management Joe Wagoner said. "Our fans have been terrific and this is adding to what is already being dubbed the largest tailgate party of the century."
Fan Fest begins at 5 p.m. and there will be six entertainment acts performing. Acts include Renegade (A Styx cover band), Flex Flav Breakdance Crew, The Jeff Watson Band, The Mariachi Los Gavilanes, The Grant High School Drumline and Pacerettes as well as Twin McGraw and the Country Cowboys.
Tyreke Evans, Jason Thompson and Donte Green of the Sacramento Kings will also be signing autographs and shooting hoops with fans during FanFest. The Kings mascot, Slamson, will join in on the fun.
In addition FanFest will feature the team's first Tailgate Challenge. The Challenge celebrates the Mountain Lions last home game of the 2010 season.
Prizes will be awarded in three categories including: Best Food, Best Mountain Lions Theme and Most Original Tailgate. Participants can enter to be considered in any or all of the categories. Winners in each category will receive four sets of 2011 season tickets and a reserved parking spot in the VIP lot.
Fans who would like to enter are encouraged to pre-register via email. Check in and late registration will be handled from 5 - 6 pm at the Tailgate Challenge tent in FanFest. Participants will each receive a special marker to display at their location. A celebrity judge will be assigned to each parking area. The area judge will tour their lot throughout the preparation period, selecting a finalist in each of the three categories to participate in the main judging.
All judges will convene in the main judging area in FanFest to select the winner from the finalists in each category. Winners will be announced at halftime.
