Mountain Lions Fall to Locos, 20-9

October 11, 2012 - United Football League (UFL 1)
Sacramento Mountain Lions News Release

The undefeated Las Vegas Locomotives certainly looked the part in Wednesday's win over the Mountain Lions.

For the second week in a row without starting quarterback Josh Johnson, Sacramento was unable to overcome one of the UFL's best defenses and lost by a score of 20-9.

"They played hard," Las Vegas head coach Fassel said. "They keep doing what they're doing and there going to beat teams in this league. They could have beaten us tonight."

The Mountain Lions had the lead in the first quarter after former San Francisco 49ers' kicker Fabrizio Scaccia nailed a 21-yard field goal. The Locos were responded with a scoring drive topped off by Andrae Thurman's 10-yard touchdown reception and the UFL's first place team didn't look back.

The highlight of the night for Sacramento might have been Fabrizio's second field goal, which he boomed from 58 yards that might have been good from 65.

Running back Tyrell Sutton had his best game of the season, netting 147 rushing yards on 23 carries, giving him an average of well over six per carry.

Demetrius Williams failed to score a touchdown after having two scoring receptions in each of his team's first two games. He finished the night as the team's leading receiver with four catches for 61 yards.

The Mountain Lions return to the field on Friday, Oct. 19 back in Virginia Beach, where the team expects to have Johnson back to get redemption on the Destroyers after beating Sacramento 37-29 in week 2. ---2090553061-57031300-1349933459=:81552
