
Sewell Named CHL Player of the Week

(12/30/02) Laredo Bucks right wing Joey Sewell is the Player of the Week in the Central Hockey League after racking up six goals and an assist in three games last week. With seventeen goals this season, Sewell is just two goals behind Eric Schneider and Chris Grenville for the Bucks team lead. Overall, Sewell is tied for seventh in the CHL in goals scored.
Sewell and the Bucks carry a four-game winning streak into tomorrow night's New Year's Eve Fiesta at the Laredo Entertainment Center. Sewell recorded his first professional hat trick Thursday in a 7-2 win against San Angelo. He added a goal in San Angelo Friday, then banged in two more in Saturday's 6-2 win against Corpus Christi. Sewell, 21, is a rookie from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario in Canada.
Tomorrow at 8:00pm, Sewell and the Bucks face the first-place Austin Ice Bats and CHL Goaltender of the Week Matt Barnes.
