Several Twins Prospects Rated Among Top 10 in Respective Leagues

In Baseball America's latest issue the Minnesota Twins have several players rated in the top 10 in their respective leagues. The Twins had the most prospects (20) in Major League Baseball make the Baseball America prospect list for every league. First baseman Justin Morneau was ranked as the second best prospect in the International League (AAA). Outfielder Jason Kubel was ranked in the International League and the Eastern League (AA). Kubel was rated as the number four prospect in the International League and the second best prospect in the Eastern League. Baseball America also named Kubel to its Minor League All-Star Team. Jason Bartlett, shortstop, was the 10th best prospect in the International League according to Baseball America. Right-handed pitcher J.D. Durbin was selected as the eighth best prospect in the Eastern League. In the Midwest League (A) right-hander Adam Harben was rated as the 10th best prospect. In the Appalachian League (R+) the Twins had several players in the top ten led by right-handed pitcher Kyle Waldrop, who was ranked third in the league and fourth in the Golf Coast League (R). Shortstop Trevor Plouffe was ranked as the sixth best prospect while teammate and left-handed pitcher Alexander Smit was ninth. There were three more Twins in the top twenty in the Appalachian League, right-hander's Matt Fox (11th), Frank Mata (15th) and outfielder/designated hitter Deacon Burns (20th). In the Gulf Coast League Jay Rainville (RHP) was selected as the eighth best prospect while Juan Portes (3B) was ranked 12th and Anthony Swarzak (RHP) was rated as the 15th best prospect in the league.

Some former Snappers also were rated highly led by Ben Hendrickson (RHP), seventh in the International League and outfielder Dave Krynzel at 17th. Snappers from the 2003 season Rickie Weeks and Prince Fielder were rated third and fourth respectively in the Southern League (AA). Brad Nelson a member of the 2002 Snappers was ranked 20th in the Southern League. Left-handed pitcher Manny Parra another 2003 Snapper was eighth in the California League. 2004 Snappers Dana Eveland was the 20th ranked prospect in the Midwest League and late season call-ups Hernan Iribarren (2B) and Yovani Gallardo (RHP) were the second best prospect and 13th best prospect, respectively in the Arizona League.
