Augusta GreenJackets News Release

Hagerstown, MD - For the second straight game, the Augusta GreenJackets lost a one-run lead in the seventh inning as the Hagerstown Suns scored the game's final seven runs in a 10-4 win over the GreenJackets on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Suns salvaged the series split against the GreenJackets.

With the GreenJackets leading 4-3 in the seventh, DeMondre Arnold allowed back-to-back singles to start the inning. Augusta summoned Steven Neff out of the bullpen and Neff was able to get two quick outs. But with two outs, Cutter Dykstra's two-run double to left field brought the tying and go-ahead runs to the plate to give the Suns a 5-4 edge.

Hagerstown sent ten to the plate in the eighth to score five more times to pull away to a 10-4 lead. The Suns got six straight hits in the inning - getting runs on an RBI double by Jeremy Mayo; run-scoring singles from Caleb Ramsey, Billy Burns and Bryce Ortega and Justin Miller's sacrifice fly.

Devin Harris gave the GreenJackets an early 2-0 lead with a two-run homer in the fourth after Shawn Payne walked to open the inning. The Suns would strike back in the bottom half of the inning to take a 3-2 lead and set the pace for what was, at times, a back-and-forth contest. JR Higley's two-run double tied the game at two before the Suns took a 3-2 advantage on a two-out Jose Cuevas error that allowed Higley to score the go-ahead run from second.

The GreenJackets took advantage of an unearned run of their own to tie the game in the fifth. With two outs in the inning, Jesus Galindo scored from second on a throwing error to tie the game at three. In the seventh, the GreenJackets grabbed their second lead of the day on a two-out RBI double from Jose Flores to make it a 4-3 game. The Flores double would be Augusta's final hit of the game though as the Suns would score the last seven runs of the contest to pull away to a 10-4 win.

LJ Hollins (1-0) allowed a run in two innings of relief to get the win for the Suns while Arnold (4-2) was tagged with the loss for the GreenJackets. Augusta starter Paul Davis failed to make it three straight starts of seven innings, but threw well for the GreenJackets in the no decision. He allowed three runs - two earned - on four hits in five innings, striking out six.

After the split in Hagerstown, the GreenJackets move to the Bluegrass State for the final time this season to open up a four-game series with the Lexington Legends. Edwin Escobar (4-5, 3.43) gets the ball for the GreenJackets in the opener and will face Lexington's Luis Ordosgoitti (2-3, 5.70). First pitch from Lexington comes at 7:05 p.m. with radio pregame coverage beginning at 6:50 p.m. on ESPN Radio 1340 AM and online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com.

The GreenJackets return home on Friday July 27th to open a three-game series with the Hickory Crawdads at 7:05 p.m. Single-game tickets for any GreenJackets home game are currently available by calling the GreenJackets front office at 706-922-WINS and online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com.
