Seventh Inning Stretched for 2-1 Win over Missions

FRISCO, TX- A two-run seventh inning was the key for Frisco as the RoughRiders took game three against San Antonio 2-1 Sunday afternoon at Dr Pepper Ballpark. "˜Riders starter Barret Loux (9-0) picked up his ninth win of the season, becoming the first pitcher in the minors or the majors to nine victories.

Both sides retired three straight batters in the first. Facing "˜Riders starter Barret Loux, two-time Texas League Player of the Week Cody Decker hit a solo blast beyond the left field wall putting the Missions up 1-0.

San Antonio held the lead until Frisco broke through with a two-run seventh. Back-to-back singles by Alex Buchholz and Val Majewski put a pair of RoughRiders in scoring position. Zach Zaneski hit a single up the middle, allowing Buchholz to tie the game at one and moving Majewski to third. Facing Missions starter Andrew Werner (1-5), Jared Prince then hit a grounder to second baseman Jonathan Galvez. Galvez threw to second retiring Zaneski, but the throw to first was not in time, as Prince slid in safely. Majewski scored on the play, putting Frisco on top by one.

With a 2-1 lead, "˜Riders bullpen sat down the next six batters in order. Wilfredo Boscan pitched a perfect eighth inning, while Joseph Ortiz and Johan Yan combined to toss a 1-2-3 ninth.

Barret Loux picked up his ninth win of the season throwing seven innings, allowing two hits and one earned run. He walked one and struck out six. Andrew Werner was the hard luck loser, despite throwing 7.2 innings. On the game the southpaw allowed seven hits, and two earned runs. Johan Yan earned his 10th save of the season, getting the final out of the ballgame.

Frisco wraps up its four game series with San Antonio Monday morning. Jake Brigham (2-1, 2.84) tosses for the 'Riders. He will be opposed by Aussie native Hayden Beard (2-3, 8.67).
