Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL's Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that they have received a combined seven players both American Hockey League affiliates.

The San Antonio Rampage, Florida's AHL affiliate, have assigned forwards Garrett Wilson, Justin Vaive, and Joe Devin today. Defensemen Brian O'Hanley and Maury Edwards along with forward Daniel Koger, who were all on AHL camp invites in San Antonio, have also been returned to the Cyclones.

Wilson, a 2009 Florida Panthers fourth round draft choice, will begin his professional career with the Cyclones after spending the last four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). Since 2008-09, he was a member of the Owen Sound Attack and compiled 182 points (93 goals, 89assists) in 184 games during that span. Last season, Wilson enjoyed a career year by posting 86 points (40 goals, 46 assists) in 66 games - helping the Sound Attack to the OHL title and First All-Star Team accolades. The six-foot-three, 206 pound left-winger also logged seven games in 2007-08 with the Windsor Spitfires.

Vaive, a six-foot-six, 225 pound Buffalo, New York native was a four-year letter winner at Miami University. While in Oxford, he averaged a career +4 plus/minus rating and helped the RedHawks capture their first ever CCHA Championship last season and a regular season CCHA title in 2009-10. A 2007 fourth-round selection of the Anaheim Ducks, Vaive amassed 46 points (23 goals, 23 assists) as a member of Miami. Like several other Cyclones, Vaive comes from a hockey bloodline; his father, Rick, played in 876 NHL games with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks, and Buffalo Sabres.

Devin, a 23-year-old forward is embarking on his first season as a professional after a four-year career at Cornell University. In 116 career games with the Big Red, the Scituate, Massachusetts native posted 64 points (37 goals, 27 assists) and was named to the ECAC Second All-Star Team last season. Devin's senior year in 2010-11 was his career-best, as he earned 27 points (17 goals, 10 assists) in 34 games.

O'Hanley, Edwards, and Koger, who were all invited to attend San Antonio's camp, have been released from their tryout agreements today and returned to Cincinnati.

Cincinnati's other AHL affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals have assigned defensemen Garrett Suter.

Suter will be entering his first full season as a professional after finishing 2010-11 as one of Cincinnati's most consistent rear guards. The six-foot-one, 185 pound Madison, Wisconsin native finished with five points (2 goals, 3 assists) in 16 regular season games and led all Cyclones players in playoff scoring (4 points). His father, Bob was a member of the 1980 "Miracle on Ice" U.S. Olympic team while his brother, Ryan, has logged nearly 500 NHL games as a defenseman with the Nashville Predators. Even Suter's uncle, Gary, enjoyed a lengthy pro career - posting 845 NHL points in 1145 games with the Calgary Flames, Chicago Blackhawks, and San Jose Sharks. Gary also won the Stanley Cup as a member of the Flames in 1989.

The countdown to the 2011-12 season is underway! Secure your seats for Saturday, November 5 when the Cyclones welcome the Chicago Express to U.S. Bank Arena for the first time at 7:30pm.
