Seven Bulls Players Headed to Top Prospects in Michigan Next Month

AMARILLO, TX - There was more good news today (Tuesday) for the Amarillo Bulls and their participation at the North American Hockey League's Top Prospects Tournament in Troy, Michigan next month.

It was announced that goaltender Gregg Gruehl, defensemen John Rey and Brandon Lubin, as well as forwards Tyler Deresky, Brooks Behling and TJ Sarcona will suit up for the South Division to be led by Bulls Head Coach Dennis Williams. In addition to that, forward Jude Warner has been selected to play for the NAHL Under-18 Select Team.

Gruehl has played in 22 games with the Bulls this season and ranks fourth in the NAHL in Goals Against at 2.04. He has posted a record of 16-2-4 and a save percentage of .916.

John Rey leads various NAHL categories among defenseman including points (34), assists (30), and plus minus (+44). In 39 games with the Bulls, Brandon Lubin has tallied three goals and eight assists for 11 points and is plus 21. He has fired 62 shots on goal.

Up front, the speedy Tyler Deresky has collected nine goals and 13 assists for 24 points in 34 games. He is plus 13 and has 63 shots on goal.

TJ Sarcona is second on the team in points with 40 (17 goals, 23 assists), and is plus 26 in 36 games. He is also second in shorthanded goals with three, has earned four power play goals, and collected nine power play helpers.

Forward Brooks Behling is third in the NAHL in scoring with 30 goals, 24 assists for 54 points in 39 games. Behling, a native of Pittsburgh, PA, leads the league in goals with 30, shots on goal with 201, shorthanded goals with five, and tied for first with six game winning goals.

Forward Jude Warner has four goals and nine assists for 13 points in 26 games for the Bulls this season.

All NAHL players are eligible to participate in the Top Prospects Tournament, regardless if they've committed to an NCAA school. Each of the teams will consist of 12 forwards, 6 defensemen and 2 goaltenders. The number of players represented by each NAHL team was based on each team's winning percentage within their division as of January 16th.

It's back to work this weekend for the Amarillo Bulls with three games in three nights, including two at home. The action begins on Friday when the Bulls travel to Odessa to face the Jackalopes at Ector County Coliseum at 7 pm. Fans can tune into the action live on ESPN1440 and www.amarillobulls.com fueled by UStream, beginning with pre-game coverage presented by Wayland Baptist University at 6:45 pm.

The Bulls then return home for back-to-back games at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. On Saturday the Bulls entertain the Fresno Monsters at 7 pm. It's the first time that a West Division team will play in Amarillo. It's Rowdy's Birthday and several mascots from across the Texas Panhandle will be attending.

The 2nd annual Sonic Sunday is set for the following day when the Bulls host the Odessa Jackalopes at 6 pm. All tickets are free but they must be picked up either at the Bulls Office located at 301 South Polk or the Civic Center Box Office.
