WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Winston-Salem Dash fell 6-1 in the series finale against the Aberdeen IronBirds Sunday afternoon at Truist Stadium in front of 4,400 fans.
Winston-Salem (23-14) found its lone run on the day in the bottom of the first off the bat of DJ Gladney. The Chicago native smacked his 10th home run of the year over the wall in left center giving the Dash a 1-0 lead, but it was all Winston-Salem got offensively.
Aberdeen (18-19) was held quiet through the first three innings but plated a trio of runs in the top of the fourth taking a 3-1 lead. The IronBirds added an insurance run in the sixth and two more in the ninth leading to a 6-1 win.
Brooks Gosswein (1-2) was tabbed with the loss after surrendering three runs in the third. Four Dash pitchers combined for the final 18 outs giving up three more runs.
The IronBirds continued their dominant pitching on Sunday. Daniel Federman (2-1) got the win after going five innings allowing only one run and striking out six.
The Dash hit the road as they travel to see the Brooklyn Cyclones for the second time this season. The six-game series starts Tuesday at 6 p.m. from Maimonides Park.
