Jackson Senators News Release
Jackson, MS; June 21, 2004 â In the last game of a 4 game series, the Senators claimed the series 3 games to 1 with 6-5 win in 10 innings. The Senators scored runs in the 1st inning for the second game in a row as 3 came home to score. Jackson increased the lead to 4-1 in the 5th inning, but the Pelicans would battle back. The comeback started in the 6th when Pensacola brought across 1 run to cut the lead down to 2. Two innings later, the Pelicans got into the Senator bullpen as three runs came to the plate, in the process, the Senator lead vanished and Pensacola led 5-3 when the dust cleared. Down the their final 6 outs, the Sens pushed across 1 run in the 8th and trailed 5-4 heading to the 9th. With one out, Selwyn Langaigne and Josh Tranum both singled to put men at 1st and 2nd base. Gerard McCall then singled giving the Sens 3 hits in a row and more importantly a tie in the ballgame. Jackson left 2 runners on in the 9th and the game was forced into extra innings. Pensacola went down without a fight in the top of the 10th. In the 10th, Jackson had the bottom of the order due up starting with Tyson Boston who received a lead off walk. Boston was bunted over the 2nd base by Nick Sorenson to put him in scoring position with one out. The stage was then set for Erick Mejias at the plate. Mejias on a 1-1 pitch hit a slow roller down the first base line to first baseman Matt Tindell, who booted it off his glove into foul territory. Tyson Boston was running the whole way and scored easily to win the game. Jackson is now 4-13 in 1-run games and takes the series 3-1
