Harrisburg Senators News Release
The Harrisburg Senators snapped their five-game losing streak Wednesday night with a 3-2 win over the Binghamton Mets. Kevin Pucetas combined with four relievers to limit the B-Mets to one earned run and just five hits as Pucetas earned his seventh win on the season. The Senators improve to 53-58 on the season with the win.
After both teams went down in order in the first, then Senators broke through with three straight two-out hits in the second to take a 2-0 lead. Justin Bloxom doubled, followed by a run-scoring single by Devin Ivany, who took second on an error. Jonathan Tucker singled in Ivany giving the Senators the lead.
The score remained 2-0 into the fifth inning when the B-Mets scored on a two-out single by pitching Gonzalez Germen, cutting the lead in-half.
Harrisburg bounced back in the sixth, though, when Zack Walters tripled in James Skelton giving the Sens a 3-1 lead. Binghamton trimmed the lead to a run, scoring an unearned run on a throwing error in the seventh inning.
With the score 3-2 in favor of the Sens into the eighth inning, they put two on with one-out but didn't score. The B-Mets had a single and a walk off Hector Nelo in the bottom of the eighth, but came away empty handed due to a caught stealing and double play.
Pat McCoy worked around a two-out walk in the ninth to earn his second save on the season. Paul Demny worked a scoreless inning in relief, his first relief appearance since 2008. Marco Frias also worked an inning in relief allowing an unearned run before turning the game over to Nelo and McCoy.
James Skelton and Justin Bloxom both had two hits for the Senators. It was the third straight 3-2 game the Senators have played and the first they've won.
The final game of the three game series and road trip is on Thursday night at 6:35 p.m. with RH Chien-Ming Wang on the mound the Senators. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website and on mobile devices with the iHeart Radio app beginning with the pregame show at 6:15 p.m.
