Senators roll against Penguins

The Binghamton Senators power-play unit continued their stellar play on Friday night as the Sens put home three with the man advantage en route to a 5-1 victory against divisional rival Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Brian Pothier and Denis Hamel each netted a power-play marker during the first period giving the Sens a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission.

Wilkes-Barre's Matt Hussey brought the Pens within one at 4:35 of the middle frame, but that would be as close as Wilkes-Barre would get as the Sens rattled off three unanswered goals to end the game.

Anton Volchenkov picked up a power-play goal 11:45 into the second period giving the Sens a 3-1 lead. Jason Spezza picked up his third assist of the evening on the goal and rookie Brandon Bochenski was credited with the other assist.

Josh Langfeld extended Binghamton's lead to 4-1 at the 2:53 mark of the final stanza with assists from Volchenkov and Hamel.

Rookie winger Danny Bois closed out the scoring 14:39 into the third period with his first professional goal. Arpad Mihaly and Charlie Stephens picked up the assists on the Senators fifth goal.

Ray Emery was very solid between the pipes for Binghamton. While picking up the win Emery 27 of 28 shots. Former first-overall NHL draft pick Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 25 of 30 shots in the loss.

Binghamton was 3 for 8 with the man advantage tonight while Wilkes-Barre/Scranton was shut out on the power play going 0 for 8.

The Sens return to action tomorrow night as the Syracuse Crunch travel to Binghamton for a 7:05pm face off.
