LOOKING AHEAD:
Chicago heads to Milwaukee on Friday night with the West Division lead on the line... The first-place Wolves have given up 16 goals in their first three trips to the Bradley Center this year, most recently a 7-2 loss on Dec. 17... Steve Maltais has scored six of his 12 goals this season in six games against Milwaukee... Former Wolves forward Simon Gamache leads all scorers in the season series with nine points for the second-place Admirals, and has 15 points (5g, 10a) in his last nine games overall... Milwaukee's Darren Haydar had eight points in three games last week to earn CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week honors.
Bridgeport is in Norfolk for a two-game series at Scope beginning Friday... The all-time series between the teams has been a defensive one, with the teams combining for 39 goals in the 12 meetings... This year, Sean Bergenheim scored twice in a 3-2 Sound Tigers win on Nov. 13, and Michael Leighton made 21 saves in a 1-0 Admirals win on Dec. 1... Last weekend's split against Houston began a stretch in which Norfolk will play 15 of 17 games on home ice; the Sound Tigers, who began a seven-game road trip on Dec. 31, are a league-worst 2-11-1-0 on the road this season... The Admirals are second in the AHL in home penalty killing (93.6%), but last in home power play efficiency (7.6%).
League-leaders Manchester and Hartford close out the weekend with a get-together at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Sunday... The teams' first two meetings this season ended in Wolf Pack victories, including a 4-3 overtime decision on Dec. 5 that remains one of only two losses in 17 home games this season for the Monarchs... Manchester enters Friday's action with a four-point lead over Hartford atop both the Atlantic Division and the overall AHL standings... Entering the weekend, the Wolf Pack were on a 14-3-0-1 run, and Jason LaBarbera had won his previous 11 decisions.
