Pensacola Pelicans News Release
Pensacola (15-15 2nd half and 44-33 overall) welcomes the Jackson Senators (10-20 2nd half and 31- 46) to Pelican Park for a four game series, the final matchup between these two teams of the season.
The Pelicans have played the Senators dead even this year, each team winning five games. The first series of the season saw back and forth games, each team winning two games. Jackson would win the next series 2-1 and the Pelicans won the last series 2-1.
Pensacola has outscored Jackson 62-61 despite being out hit .278 to .246. The difference has been timely hitting, Pensacola has 62 RBI compared to 56 Jackson RBI.
George Branch, Nestor Smith and Juan Rocha each have at least 10 RBI against Senators pitching where as Vince Faison is the only Jackson hitter to have 10 against Pensacola.
Both teams have struggled pitching in the series, with Jackson recording a 5.56 ERA and Pensacola a 5.73. The Pelicans staff has the edge in strikeouts, however, with 77 compared to Jackson's 58. Bubba Dobson has fanned 12 Senators to lead Pensacola while Rusty Camp had paced Jackson with 13 k's.
